With the help of Peace Aid Group and many other volunteers, we were able to purchase a pick-up truck for the 110th territorial defense brigade. We bought it in the UK. It was driven to Ukraine as part of a large vehicle convoy (40+ vehicles) and crossed the border at the end of April. Our volunteers drove 1700 km round trip to L'viv to pick it up.
The truck needed some work, the biggest of which was its frame which needed to be repaired as it had some major structural issues due to excessive rust. Our mechanic did a really good job replacing sections of the frame and welding reinforcement bars to make it as strong as new. We put new set of off-road tires onto the truck, replaced oils, filters, belts, brakes. Replaced A/C condenser and repaired a few holes in the A/C lines. We did a complete overhaul of rear axle, put a new towing hitch, performed a major tune-up of steering and many other things.
The soldiers paid for the tires and the towing hitch (₴26,900/CA$920/US$680), we covered all the rest of parts and labor (₴72,000/CA$2,500/US$1,800).
A few weeks later, the truck is ready to be transferred to its new and rightful owners - the 116th battalion of the 110th territorial defense brigade.
